We welcomed back Kent Chamber Choir for our concluding concert, after its thrilling sell-out programme in the 2005 Festival. This year their programme included extracts from Mendelssohn's Elijah, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Bach's B minor Mass, Haydn's Creation, as well as sections of the Requiems by Fauré and Brahms. They were joined by Baritone soloist Benedict Nelson (sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust) and together concluded this popular evening with The trumpet shall sound and the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah. Kent Chamber Choir was founded in 1983 by its Director, Alan Vincent. It gives concerts in Kent, elsewhere in the UK and abroad, and enjoys a reputation for its performances of a wide range of sacred and secular music. The Festivals's Artistic Director Bryan Gipps accompanied on a three manual digital organ. |
